Marginal is not a reader that happens to have bookmarks. It is built around what you take out of a text.

Open an EPUB, FB2, TXT or Markdown file, select a fragment and save it as an extract with your own margin note. Five types — quote, thought, term, question, to do — plus tags, pinning and full-text search over quotes, notes, tags and source titles.

When the reading is done, compile what you selected into one document: Markdown or plain text, grouped by source, tag or type, ordered by place in the source or by date, with optional notes, places, tags and numbering. Save it to a file, copy it or share it.

PDF files can be added as sources, but this web version cannot extract their text: type the quote and the page number by hand.

Everything stays on this device. No account, no cloud, no ads, no network. Source files are never modified.
